Featured Family Events in October
Every season in West Michigan has it's unique, fun things to do for kids of all ages- from babies up to the "young at heart". Indoors or outdoors, no matter the time of year, there's always something great going on along the lakeshore for families to experience together!
In addition to the following list, check out the events happening throughout the month at Sandcastles Children's Museum and the Ludington and Scottville branches of the Mason County District Libraries!
Here's a list of family friendly events happening along the lakeshore in October:
Friday & Saturdays, October 6th-28th from 6-9pm
Haunted Trail at 2547 N. US 10 in Ludington. Cost is $5 for adults & $3 for kids if you dare to bring them. Definitely not for kids under 10 yrs or the faint of heart.
Saturday, October 21st-Sunday, October 22nd
Spooktacular at Lewis Farm Market- 4180 W. M-20 in New Era.
Saturday, October 21st
10am - October Matinee at the Vogue Theatre- 383 River St. in Manistee. "Casper" is the featured movie and admission is just 25 cents with $1 popcorn and juice boxes also available.
10am-1pm - Mason County Animal Advocates Cat-Adoptathon at Tractor Supply Co.- 4572 W. US 10 in Ludington. The adoptathon will be for the cats and kittens at Mason County Animal Control. All are loving and want to be with people. All cats will be spayed or neutered for free courtesy of Lakeshore Animal Friends. There is a $25 adoption fee and $25 refundable deposit. First shots and a free vet visit are included.
10am-4pm - Shagway Fall Festival at Shagway Arts Barn- 5949 Shagway Rd. in Ludington. Spooky Trail, Trick-or-Treating, outdoor games, vendor/craft show.
3-6pm - Haunted Village at the Historic White Pine Village- 1687 S. Lakeshore Dr. in Ludington. Family-friendly event with trick-or-treating and costume contest.
6-9pm - Annual Scottville Optimist Club Sportsman's Banquet at the Scottville Optimist Hall behind West Shore Bank in Scottville.
Sunday, October 22nd, 1-4pm
2017-2018 Mason County 4-H Kickoff Celebration at Tractor Supply Company- 4572 W. US 10 in Ludington.
Monday, October 23rd, 6:15-7:30pm
Girl Scout Recruitment Event at Lakeshore Resource Network- 920 E. Ludington Ave. in Ludington. Daisy (kindergarten and first grade), Brownie (grades two and three), and Junior (grades four and five) troops are forming and looking for more girls and volunteers. Preregistration is encouraged. Saturday, October 28th-Sunday, October 29th
Haunted Fairgrounds at the Mason County Fairgrounds. Event benefits the Ludington, MCC, and MCE National Honor Societies.
Great Pumpkin Festival at Lewis Farm Market- 4180 W. M-20 in New Era.
Saturday, October 28th
10am - Run for Your Lives 5k and 1-Mile Fun Run in downtown Ludington.

10am-3pm - Pumpkin Painting Party at Sandcastles Children's Museum. Cost for non-members is general admission, 12 months and under are free.
10:30am-5pm - Halloween on the Green & Spooktacular Parade in downtown Pentwater. Storytime at Storybook Village at 10:30am & 2:30pm. Costume contest, face painting, pumpkin painting, sack race, Great Pumpkin Roll, and Candy Bags from 1-2pm on the Village Green. Trick-or-treating with Pentwater Downtown Merchants from 2-3:30pm. Spooktacular Parade at 3:30pm.
12-3pm - Tricks & Treats at Big Sable Point Lighthouse. Visit with pirates, get a treat from the princess in the tower. Tower Climb Special of buy one ticket, get one free (must be 40 inches tall to climb). Bus transports available for $5 per person, 12 and under are $2. Call (231) 845-7417 for more info. Haunting's of Big Sable to follow from 6-9pm.
1:45-4pm - Halloween Parade & Trick-or-treating in downtown Ludington. Costume Parade line-up at 1:45 pm with step-off at 2pm. Trick-or-treating to Ludington Downtown Merchants to follow until 4pm.
3-7pm - Haunted Barn brought to you by the Second Chance Humane Society. Call (231) 757-9219 for more info.
4-6pm - Annual WMOM Little Momster Bash at Wildwood Meadows Apartments- 105 S. Wildwood Xing in Ludington. Pizza, bounce house and games, candy, and Hallowheels bike raffle for boys and girls.
6-9pm - Tricks & Treats at Big Sable Point Lighthouse. Guided tour of the Lighthouse to investigate alleged ghost sightings at the grounds. Tickets are limited and are $13 per person. They can be purchased at eventbrite.com. Call (231) 845-7417 for more info.
6pm-Midnight- Ludrock's Night of Fright 5 at the Ludington Area Center for the Arts- 107 S. Harrison St, Ludington.
